Ireland Fun Facts - Currently, there are 8 times as many people who speak Polish in Ireland as people who speak Gaelic. - This New House: Over one-third of all the houses now standing in Ireland have been built in the last nine years. - “Hibernia” is the name ancient Romans called Ireland. It may come from the word “hibernus,” which simply translates as “wintry.” Some, however, say it comes “Ivernia,” a latin version of “Erin,” Ireland’s mythological name. The Romans, by the way, never managed to make Ireland a part of their empire. - I’ll just take the hangover, thanks - One traditional Irish cure for a hangover was to be buried up to the neck in moist river sand.
